Research Theme

  • Network Analysis

    Network analysis is a broad term focusing primarily on the structural aspects of relationships between elements in a system. According to Structuralists, structure of a network is what really matters during a network analysis. This approach is sometimes referred to as "structural analysis" because of focusing on the way that individuals are interconnected in a system.
    Despite the broad acceptance of having such an axiom in network analysis, it did not stop other researchers to create another fundamental axiom that individuals are keys to everything. They believe that structural approaches neglect the fact that individuals are social active actors, whose individual level variables can determine the structure. Such scholars believe that individuals' outcomes out of a network are assumed to derive from embeddedness in systems of relations. In addition to that, individuals' behaviors can affect the outcome of themselves and others.
    Regardless of the existing potentials for researchers to examine the linkages between two approaches,we illustrate how observing variations in the structure can be the result of costs and benefits of link establishments among constutuents of different networks.
